The warm tones and natural wood art pieces in the photo were the inspiration for my masculine birthday card for #IB401 challenge, “Seashells.”

To create this coastal scene, I used a variety of dies from my stash that include Spellbinders, Erin Lee Creative, and IOS.
I used Distress Oxide ink pads in Bundled Sage, Old Paper, and Gathered Twigs and drug them across kraft cardstock to create the weathered wood background. For the dies cuts, I cut each out of white cardstock and used these same inks plus other coordinating colors of greens, browns, and grays to apply the pretty muted colors to my pieces. A final splatter of Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof white paint gives the feeling of ocean spray.
This card was immediately put into service, as I needed a masculine birthday card for a family member’s upcoming birthday.
There were many different directions I considered taking with this week’s challenge prompts. I really wanted to include the sketch in my card this week but the inspiration didn’t come. That’s something I love about this challenge, you are encouraged to take your inspiration from any aspect of the various challenge prompts. We just want to see how you’re inspired to use your stash creatively.
When posting to Instagram, be sure to use #IB401 so we can find you. You’re also encouraged to post your card to the Inspired By Facebook Group. ~MarDi
