Whether you’re into cardmaking, scrapbooking, mixed media, or any type of project, you’re invited to interpret the challenge your way. There’s no right or wrong—just inspiration and creativity. We can’t wait to see what you create!

Current Challenge

In honor of Mother’s Day here in the US, I created a Mother’s Day card for my mother-in-law. She has been, and continues to be a huge supporter of my craft, and was quite the crafter herself in the past. She never got into paper crafts but she was a skilled toll painter and a seamstress like no other.

The colors and flowers in the inspiration photo are what inspired my card. I was surprised by how few options I had in my stash for vases. I guess I’ll have to keep an eye out next time I’m shopping an online sale.

I love the combination of pink and navy blue, and since I wanted this to be a more elegant design, I embossed this large Beautiful Flowers stamp from Simon Says Stamp with fine gold embossing powder, once on white card stock, and again on navy blue cardstock.

I colored the flowers and leaves with copic markers and added some shading to the flowers with Prismacolor pencils. I used the die in the set to cut out the image and colored the white edges with a navy blue copic marker to match the navy cardstock. Before I layered my images, I embossed the navy background panel with a Spellbinders embossing folder called Columns. Then I applied the gold/navy floral and popped up the colored florals with foam tape.

I used a Happy Mother’s Day die from Papertrey Ink and cut two layers of navy and one layer of gold and layered them so the sentiment would stand out better.

A few gems in the flower centers completes my card, except for the inside. I’ll tackle that next.

We would love for you to join the Inspired By challenge this week. What inspires you about this week’s prompts? Can’t wait to see! ~MarDi
