  • Hello everyone.  Von Marie here and I’m so excited to be on the blog today with the New Inspired by…Challenge Sweet caterpillar #IB375. And New Card Sketch too.

    Let’s Get Started:

I was inspired by the photo with the donuts,  caterpillar, colors, and the pink foil. I didn’t attempt the card sketch today but it is really fun.

I looked in my stash and could not find a caterpillar image so I chose to make a donuts caterpillar like the photo.  I used a stamp and die set from Honey Bee stamps called Love You S’more. I stamped a bunch of donut images with Memento tuxedo ink on Neenah Solar White 110 lb. and colored them with my Copic alcohol markers. I tried to do pink, white, and brown donuts like the photo.  A Little Donut Fact-I love donuts Apple Fritters are my favorite and Cinnamon Rolls are my next favorite.  I cut out all my donuts with the coordinating die.

I cut out some branches for the legs for my donuts caterpillar using a Lawn Fawn Pivot Pop Up Die Set.  I cut them out with a cream colored cardstock and inked them with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I cut a gold foil strip from a Michaels 12 x 12 Specialty paper pad, I didn’t curl it as I wanted my card flat but I do love it curled on the photo.  I got out my googly eyes and also made a woodgrain layer to lay my donuts caterpillar on just using kraft cardstock and Vintage Photo ink, just swiping the ink pad on to my cardstock. I also stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set with black ink on white cardstock.  I used the die to cut out more die-cuts to layer my sentiment on to.  I then glued everything to a gray mat layer 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and then to a matching A2 card base.  I had fun making this card.  I think it’s cute for kids to make too.

You still have time to join us!

    How to participate:

How to join this challenge? Create a card inspired by the photo or Card Sketch or both.  Link your card to the Inspired By..Blog. Every Thursday starts a New challenge so you have less than a week to link up your card.  Show us your card in our FB group too.  We would love to see.

  • Sweet Caterpillar is the theme this week, so what image does that evoke in your mind? I don’t think my first thought would be donuts but they certainly do make a cute caterpillar as they are displayed in the inspiration photo. This one stumped me a little at first but once the wheels started turning, I had a lot of fun coming up with my A6 card design. Inspiration came from the sweet donuts, whimsical caterpillar, and the sketch. As you can see, my caterpillar has morphed into a darling little butterfly, ready to consume these delicious donuts.

To create my card, I used Pink and Main Box of Donuts Dies, Whimsy Stamps Beecause stamp set, Catherine Pooler Small Doily Die and Sweet word die, and the hope your birthday is was taken from an MFT Stamps sentiment set.

We would really like to see how this theme, photo, or sketch has inspired you to create. We hope you’ll join us this week. Happy crafting! ~MarDi

  • Thank you for playing along last week. As a tea drinker I really loved seeing the variations of the tea theme in the gallery! Truth be told though, I like my tea in a big mug LOL real tea cups are much too dainty for my big hands 😉

    Wanda Cullen

The beautiful colors and those gorgeous flowers kept drawing me in! How pretty! Congratulations Wanda! Hope you play along again!

Don’t forget to play along this week!

  • I fell in love with the adorable caterpillar made of donuts (doughnuts?!)! I told my husband that I am putting in a request for one on my birthday…in December! 😂 He better start practicing now!

Until then, I decided to make my card with a donut character theme, too. I settled on talking donuts. The perfect way to line them up…a waterfall card, revealing their secret message!

I placed the waterfall mechanism on the front of the card. My donut image is from The Greetery’s “Sweet Tooth” with my own paper googly eye additions. I cut up a sentiment from the set and added a word to each panel, as well as a bow from “Sweetest Frames.”

I had never made a waterfall card before. YouTube has amazing tutorials! My favorites were by Gina K (Gina K Designs), Lisa Curcio (Lisa’s Stamp Studio), and Sam Calcott (Sam Calcott UK) …so helpful and clear!

The inside of the card has one more talking donut, along with a sentiment that I cut with my little Cricut Joy (also used to cut “sweet” used on the front of the card).

I hope you get to have a little fun playing along with us this week! For now, I’m off to the kitchen. I’m suddenly feeling hungry for something sweet! ❤️

  • Happy Saturday everyone! What a fun challenge this one is! It took me a bit to come up with an idea for this one. All I could see was the caterpillar and I just had nothing that would work with it. A friend took one peek and found the perfect SVG file from Doodlebug. I turned it into a shaped card which are some of my favorites to create. All those little sprinkles took me just a bit to glue on…but oh so cute. We can’t wait to see what you create! ~Cathy

  • When I saw this week’s challenge I knew it would be a good excuse to use my new Pink and Main Box of Donuts Dies. thus I was inspired by the donuts 😊 I had fun putting this together as it gave me an excuse to use some of my beads and confetti that has been sitting in my stash just waiting for the right project.

Can’t wait to see how you are inspired!

  • This week’s Inspired By Challenge is a colorful celebration of sweets, smiles, and imagination! 🍩🐛 With its sprinkle-covered donut “body,” googly-eyed face, and pretzel stick legs, this whimsical caterpillar is too cute to eat—but perfect for sparking creativity! 🎉

Will you take inspiration from the candy-colored sprinkles, the bold party vibes, or the charming bug-eyed expression? Maybe it’s the layered look, the circular shapes, or the joyful feeling that catches your eye.

Whether you go bright and bold or soft and sweet, we can’t wait to see how this sugary little critter inspires your design!
