We can’t wait to see what you create!

Current Challenge

This week’s INSPIRED BY challenge has a wonderful shabby chic vibe. The beautifully painted clothespins in the inspiration photo are really lovely and have the most charming florals, which is the inspiration for my card.

I stamped this floral image from Altenew called Handpicked Bouquet using a warm gray hybrid ink to avoid harsh lines, and then used the layering stamps in this set to apply color to the florals and leaves. I used colored pencils to outline everything and apply some additional shading.

For the background, I used stamps from Close To My Heart called Brushstrokes Flair to create the repeating lines in the sketch. I embossed the panel with a Penny Black embossing folder called Noted, and then cut the oval frame from a Waffle Flower die set called Lacy Ovals.

The frame and bouquet were popped up with foam tape. I added vellum leaves cut from an Altenew die called Polka Dot Leaves, foiled sentiment from Spellbinders, and a few clear sequins to finish my shabby chic birthday card.

I initially thought I would create a scene with a clothesline and laundry but I was too smitten with the beautiful colors and florals to go in that direction. I also didn’t think a laundry card would be very practical, since I’m always in need of birthday cards. How about you? What inspires you about this week’s challenge? We can’t wait to see. ~MarDi
